Pawar said that 15 papers have been leaked so far and alleged that the government has no concern for the emotions and future of students. “Break MLAs and MPs by paying money, move ahead, and leave the people to fend for themselves,” he said, describing the current situation.
He also said that farmers and labourers are facing a difficult situation and that their children are preparing for competitive examinations, but the government is not paying attention to their concerns.
Pawar was in Khasapuri in the Paranda taluka of Dharashiv to offer condolences to the family of Prathamesh Deshmukh, who died by suicide while preparing for the MPSC examinations in Pune. He made the remarks while speaking to the media during his visit.
Earlier, a student protest march was held in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar against alleged paper leaks and irregularities in MPSC examinations. The protest was led by MLA Rohit Pawar.
The protesters demanded a detailed and impartial investigation into the paper leak case. They also demanded the resignation of the MPSC chairman and secretary, an inquiry into the functioning of former MPSC chairmen and secretaries, a transparent examination process and strict action against those responsible.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra Minister of State for Home Yogesh Kadam also reacted to the incident in which the MPSC secretary was allegedly blackened in the face. Kadam said action would be taken against those involved.
Kadam also defended the education minister, saying that it was incorrect to blame the education minister for the MPSC paper leak case. He said that MPSC is an independent institution and that the education minister has no connection with the matter.
Shiv Sena leaders Sanjay Raut and Aaditya Thackeray have also criticised the state government over the MPSC issue.
On Friday, Aaditya Thackeray met Maharashtra Governor Jishnu Dev Varma over allegations of paper leaks and corruption in MPSC examinations. He demanded that the MPSC paper leak case be subjected to a judicial inquiry instead of being investigated only by an SIT.
Thackeray also demanded the immediate resignation of the MPSC chairman and secretary. He said that students have been deeply dissatisfied and angry with the functioning of the MPSC for the past two to three years.
Thackeray warned that if the MPSC chairman does not resign voluntarily, a major protest will be launched. He said students would come to Mumbai to protest and that his party would support them.
Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut also launched a strong attack on the state government. He alleged that the government is arrogant and is pushing Maharashtra towards a major agitation and unrest.
Raut said that MPSC is a constitutional institution, but students have lost trust in its top officials. He criticised the government for remaining silent while hundreds of young people have taken to the streets, intensifying the political confrontation over the alleged irregularities in the state's competitive examination system.
